How to convert Lottie to GIF

  1. Upload a Lottie JSON or dotLottie file.
  2. Preview the animation, then choose the GIF size and frame rate.
  3. Convert and download the GIF.

Choosing a GIF size

Start with the size at which the GIF will be displayed. A smaller frame and lower frame rate usually reduce the file size. Keep a higher frame rate for fast movement, then compare the downloaded result at its intended display size.

When to keep the Lottie version

GIF stores a sequence of raster images. Lottie can retain vector shapes for resizing and editing. Use GIF when the destination accepts animated images but has no Lottie player. Keep the original file for future changes.

Troubleshoot your GIF

If export is slow, start at 400 pixels and 15 fps, or cancel and shorten the animation in the editor. GIF uses a limited color palette and binary transparency, so gradients and soft edges can look different. Preview background and speed do not change the GIF output. Keep the source file for future edits.

Size and frame rate limits

The converter supports a longest side of up to 800 pixels and up to 30 fps. Exports from the full editor follow its own plan limits.
